The Art of Being Happily Single

“Uncertainty is the only certainty there is, and knowing how to live with insecurity is the only security.”- John Allen Paulos

Anyone who is in a relationship will find this saying alarming, at the very least. Furthermore, anyone who is currently in a relationship, but has previously gone through a nasty breakup, is likely to get scared by this notion.  However, they might be at ease when they read a different saying, suggesting that “Single is not a status. It is a word that describes a person who is strong enough to live and enjoy life without depending on others.”

Read on to gain better understanding of what it means to be single, so that you can appreciate it more.

1.     You have more time to focus on the present

Single people have more free time than those who are in a relationship as they don’t have to dedicate their time or energy to even thinking about a partner.  The key is to dedicate this time and energy to determining yourself, your own goals, and the things you need to be happy, successful, and peaceful.

2.     There’s no reason not to be yourself

As you don’t have someone to care for or to impress, there is no reason to pretend or not to be yourself.  You can do what you want to and be what you want to be!

3.     You’ll become more independent

You will become self sufficient and more independent! There is no need to even mention that this quality will serve you well in life.

4.     You have the ability for rapid change or evolution

If you decide to dedicate all of your time and energy to a certain cause or issue, you will advance very fast.

5.     You’ll have less excuses—and that’s a good thing

“There are many things that have to be done, but I don’t have the time because of my partner… “Well, you don’t have a partner, so you will have fewer excuses and you will get more things done.

6.     You have more time for good friends and family members

When a relationship ends, you have more time to dedicate to other aspects and other people in your life.   You will have more time for good friends and relatives, which will allow you to enjoy more.

7.     Being single really isn’t negative at all, in the grand scheme of things

When you think about all the negativity in this world, it seems bizarre to be angry or depressed for not having a partner.  Just think of the poor and homeless people out there!

8.     Change is often good—if that’s what you make it

People rarely think of change as a positive thing, in spite of the fact that it actually is! It provides endless opportunities!  Just think of the opportunities which are now possible due to change and the ones that are still available after the change.

9.     You’ll recognize what’s missing in your life

When you have more time for yourself, you will focus on thinking about what would make you happy and fulfilled.  You will recognize what is missing in your life!

10.  Thinking about love when you’re not in love is beneficial

As strange as it seems, thinking about love when you are single is beneficial as it helps you picture your ideal partner and the qualities you look for.
